Welcome to Italy

One long plane ride later (but complimentary alcoholic beverages!), we touch down in Frankfurt, Germany. We both are very excited when we grab our bags and head out to see Shadley's family. Hugs for everyone and it's off to the car, where we embark on part two of our adventure.

After 4 hours or so in the car, we stop to eat lunch and take a little time in Lucerne, Switzerland. We have a nice lunch in a familiar restaurant to Shannon, Knud, Shadley, and Killian, and then walk the streets (and a wooden bridge across the river) to get some fresh air and movement in our legs. We find a beautiful cathedral to walk into, and believe it or not, there was an actual wedding ceremony going on! The cathedral allowed visitors even during the ceremony, and we were able to listen to part of it. It was a beautiful ceremony in a beautiful cathedral. But, it was time to continue our trip, this time into Italy.

We have absolutely beautiful scenery as we travel the rest of the way through the Swiss Alps, with mountain waterfalls and crystal clear lakes. It's breathtaking, and definitely something to remember.

Enter Italy, cue hailstorm. We were about 2 kilometers into Italy and about marble size hail starts coming down. What a great first impression of Italy.

We finally make it to Bologna, Italy, where our hotel is for the night. We have some wine and pasta for dinner (when in Rome, right?) and head up to our rooms for the night. We were able to go onto Facebook and check on Ava, who seems to be having a blast! Tomorrow we continue the rest of the way to Sorrento, Italy.

9 days left!

Buonanotte,

Shadley and Tom
